The Student Program and Outreach Coordinator is expected to provide support for student programs that operate at the Center in Beijing and for other student-related events. He or she is also expected to be a point of contact for University of Chicago alums, to assist with drafting and editing communications reports, and to assist with various assignments upon request from assorted University units.

Job Description:

Reports to Executive Director of the Center in Beijing

The Student Program and Outreach Coordinator is expected to provide support for student programs that operate at the Center in Beijing and for other student-related events. He or she is also expected to be a point of contact for University of Chicago alums, to assist with drafting and editing communications reports, and to assist with various assignments upon request from assorted University units. A successful Student Program and Outreach Coordinator should be well-organized and able to respond to many different requests quickly and accurately.

Qualifications:

  • BA required. For non-Chinese citizens with less than two full years’ work experience, a strong academic record from a top university is preferred
  • Prior experience living or studying in China required; experience living or studying in Beijing preferred
  • Native or bilingual English ability required
  • Mid-level proficiency in Chinese required (equivalent of two or more years of study at the university level)

Responsibilities:

Student Program Management

  • Maintain communication with UChicago Study Abroad office for UChicago Study Abroad-sponsored programs
  • Contact relevant onsite partners to arrange logistics for student programs
  • Monitor student program budget and maintain accurate financial documentation
  • Arrange program excursions upon request

Alumni Relations

  • Assist with logistical support for alumni events
  • Carry out occasional tasks as assigned by Alumni Relations and Development office

Communications

  • Provide occasional content and proofread materials for posting on the Center in Beijing’s website and public WeChat account
  • Draft and proofread English-language documents, letters, emails, or other written communications as requested

Other

  • Maintain regular contact with various University of Chicago departments and carry out requests as needed
  • Serve as primary contact for admissions outreach events in Beijing
  • Other duties as assigned
